Features
ShareBucketList follows a goal from the first idea to the trip you've taken, in five steps.
The catalogue holds 131 activities, 242 places and 199 cities in 196 countries.
Step 1
Discover
- Activities: ideas worth doing (“See Oktoberfest”, “Watch the Steelers at home”), each with how often it happens and the months it usually runs.
- Events: the dated occurrences of an activity (Oktoberfest 2027, a game on a given Sunday), grouped by season on the activity's page.
- Places: countries, regions, cities and points of interest, with how many members have been there.
- Members' reviews and star ratings on activities, events, cities and places. “Been there” marks reviewers who ticked it off.
- A map of every place, with the same filters as the list.
- Recommendations on your dashboard, based on what's already on your list: new dates for your goals, things in your categories and near your plans.
- Add an event or activity that's missing. Our team checks it, and you can edit it under My contributions until then.
Step 2
Dream
- Add to bucket list on any activity, event, city or place, or write your own goal. As you type, the site suggests matching catalogue entries.
- Sort goals into your own categories, with a priority and notes.
- Private by default. Mark goals public and set your profile to public to share a bucket-list page.
Step 3
Pick a date
- My dates lists what's coming up, what still needs a date, and what's slipped past.
- Goals without a date are offered the activity's next upcoming dates; pick one with a click.
Step 4
Plan
- Plan a trip from a goal starts a trip with its dates and place filled in. Several goals can share one trip.
- Day-by-day itineraries with lodging, meals, flights and other legs (times shown in each place's own time zone), confirmations, contacts and booking to-dos.
- Invite the people going as viewers, commentors or editors, and discuss the plan in comments.
- A trip budget: who paid for what, who shares each cost, everyone's balance and who should pay whom to settle up.
- A map of each trip: its stops in day order, joined up.
- A shared photo album for each trip: everyone on the trip sees it, and anyone who can comment adds their photos.
- Print the itinerary or save it as a PDF, and share a read-only link that shows the outline but never bookings or who's travelling.
- Keep your travel profile and airline, hotel and rental loyalty numbers in one place, visible only to you.
Step 5
Done
- Tick a goal off with the date, a rating, notes and up to 10 photos, and share the rating as a public review if you like. When a trip ends, its page prompts you to do it.
- My adventures shows everything you've done, year by year, with your photos and past trips.
- Photos on any goal, even before you go, and your own albums gathered from your goals and trips; keep them private or share them on your public bucket list.
- Badges for milestones: goals ticked off, countries visited, trips taken and more.
Everywhere
- Notifications in the site and by email (you can turn the emails off) when a submission is reviewed, you're added to a trip or you earn a badge.
- Your own units, currency and time zone.
- Works on phones as well as computers.
