Help

How ShareBucketList works, from an idea to a trip you've taken.

The five steps

  1. Discover: browse activities, events and places. An activity is the idea (“See Oktoberfest”); an event is one dated occurrence of it (“Oktoberfest 2027”).
  2. Dream: press Add to bucket list on anything you'd like to do, or add your own goal. Group goals with your own categories.
  3. Pick a date: My dates shows goals with a date and offers upcoming dates for the ones without.
  4. Plan: Plan a trip from a goal starts a trip with its dates and place filled in. Several goals can share one trip.
  5. Done: tick a goal off with a date, a rating, notes and photos. My adventures keeps them all.

Questions

Who can see my bucket list?
Only you, unless you mark goals as public and set your profile to public; then they show on your public bucket-list page.
How do I add someone to my trip?
If you're an editor of the trip, click People on the trip page, type their email address under Invite someone and pick a role. Someone with an account can open the trip straight away; anyone else gets an email with a link to join. More on inviting.
How do I share a trip?
On the trip page, editors open the ⋯ menu and choose Share a read-only link. The shared page is a summary: the destination and dates, the budget level, and each day's number of plans and its restaurants. It never shows the trip's own name, who's travelling, travel, stays, bookings or confirmation numbers. Stop sharing in the same menu turns the link off. More on sharing.
Who can see or edit a trip?
Only people the trip has been shared with in the app, each as a viewer, commentor or editor.
How do reviews work?
Any member can review an activity, event, city or place from its page, once each, and edit or delete it later. When you tick off a goal you can share your rating and notes as a review too; those are marked Been there. Reviews are public and show your username. If one breaks the rules, press Report under it.
I added an event or activity. Why can't others see it?
New submissions are checked by our team first; you can see and edit yours under My contributions in your account menu meanwhile.
My city or venue isn't listed.
When adding an event, tick City not listed and type it; our team adds it to the catalogue.

Guides

Step-by-step help for each part of the site.

Getting started

  • Getting started

What ShareBucketList is for, how a goal becomes a trip, and the first three things to do.

  • Sharing and access

Who can see, comment on or change a trip, how to invite people, and what a public share link shows.

  • Starting a trip For trip editors

Create a trip from scratch or from a bucket-list goal, then add who's going, the cities, the dates and where you'll stay.

  • Your travel profile

Keep your seat and meal preferences, passport and trusted-traveler numbers, and loyalty programs in one private place for whoever books.

  • Your data: download it or delete your account

Take a copy of everything you've put on the site, or delete your account, and what happens to shared trips, reviews and notes when you do.

  • Reporting and safety

Report something wrong in the catalogue, stop emails you don't want, and what limits keep the site safe.

Trips

  • Reading your trip

Find your way around a trip page: the overview, each day's plan, and where the confirmation numbers and phone numbers are.

  • Your trip in your calendar

Subscribe to a trip from Google, Apple or Outlook calendar so its flights, trains, stays, activities and booked meals show up on your phone and stay up to date.

  • How to add a day to your trip For trip editors

Add a day, fill in its details, then add legs, activities and meals to it.

  • Changes and undo

See what changed on a trip and who changed it, undo a change, and bring back something removed by mistake.

  • Travel legs For trip editors

Add trains, flights and drives, from a rough plan to a booked journey with exact times, and make a return trip in one go.

  • Checklists

Packing lists, travel documents and things to do before you go, ticked off by everyone on the trip, one box per person where it matters.

  • The budget and splitting costs

Record who paid for what, see each person's share and who owes whom, and see the whole trip in one currency.

  • Tidying an itinerary For trip editors

Turn travel tables into real journeys, and use the clean-up suggestions to remove text that repeats a booking or contact.

  • Comments and notes

Leave a note for everyone on a trip, on the trip itself or on a day, a plan or a task, and edit or delete your own.

Bookings & contacts

  • Bookings and confirmations For trip editors

Add confirmation numbers, tickets and booking documents to journeys, stays and activities, keep track of what's still to book, and record a decision between options.

  • Contacts and info notes For trip editors

Keep phone numbers and trip know-how in one place, and link each to the journeys, stays and days it matters for.

Bucket list

  • Your bucket list

Collect the things you want to do, give them dates, plan trips for them, and tick them off with photos.
