Reading your trip
Find your way around a trip page: the overview, each day's plan, and where the confirmation numbers and phone numbers are.
Updated October 19, 2026
Everything about a trip is on one page, built to read on a phone as well as a desk. Open Trips in the left menu and click a trip.
The top of the page
Under the trip's name you see its dates, how many nights, and its planning stage (for example Confirming, or Completed once it's over).
| Button or link | What it does |
|---|---|
| Edit trip | Change the trip. Only editors see it (who can do what). |
| Download PDF | The printable booklet (see below). |
| Map · Budget · Photos | The trip's map, its shared costs, and the shared photo album. |
| ⋯ | Add to calendar (calendar feed), and sharing and deleting when you're allowed to (sharing). |
The bar under the title jumps to the three parts of the page: Overview, Days and Reference. It stays at the top as you scroll.
Overview
One row per day. Click a day's number to jump to that day; it opens.
| Column | Shows |
|---|---|
| Day | The day's number and date. |
| Where | The city you spend the day in. |
| Sleeping | Where you sleep that night; (in) on the night you check in. ✈ overnight means a flight that arrives the next day. |
| Travel | The day's journeys, such as "Frankfurt → Augsburg", or "2 legs · ~3 h 15 min". |
| Highlights | The day's main activities, or its theme. |
| ⚠ | How many things on that day are not booked yet or still to do. |
Below the table:
- Needs attention counts what's not booked, what's still to do, open decisions, and journeys not on any day. Each one links to the list in Reference.
- Journeys not on any day and Stays outside the trip's days show bookings whose dates fall outside the trip's days, so nothing is hidden.
- Estimated trip cost, when bookings or activities have costs: their total in your currency (the budget).
- Travelling, Cities and Destination, then the trip's notes.
- Once the trip is over, Rate the places from this trip (rating a finished trip).
- Editors also see Tidy suggestions: places where the text repeats a booking or contact recorded elsewhere.
Days
Each day is folded to one line: its number, date, city, theme and a ⚠ count. Click a day to open it. The page opens today's day while the trip is on, Day 1 before it starts, and none once it's over. Expand all and Collapse all open or fold every day.
An open day reads from top to bottom:
- Where you sleep. On the day you arrive at a hotel you see its full card: address, nights, rate, confirmation number and notes. On the other nights you see Sleeping: with the hotel's name, and on the last morning Check out:. Both link to the card.
- The timeline. Trains, flights, activities and booked meals, in time order. Each has its time, what it is, its confirmation number and, if it isn't booked yet, a Still to book line. Times of trains and flights are always local to where they leave and arrive, wherever you are reading from. Travel: above the timeline adds up the day's journeys.
- Any time. Things without a set time: planned journeys in their order, then activities.
- The write-up. The day's plans, tips, tables and choices, in the order they were written.
- Good to know. Phone numbers and tips for the whole day.
- Food ideas. Restaurants without a booked time.
Contacts and tips linked to a hotel, train or activity appear right under it: a ☎ line with a phone number you can tap to call, or an ⓘ line you tap to read.
Editors also see Edit this day at the top of each open day, and Edit beside each journey, activity and meal.
Reference
The home of the trip's confirmations, contacts and to-dos. Everything elsewhere on the page links here.
- Confirmations, grouped as Flights, Trains, Stays, Activities, Meals and Other. Each shows the number in large type (easy to read out at a desk), who it's with, what it covers (click to jump to it), who it's for, and Manage booking ↗ when there's a link. Insurance and passes are under Other.
- Still to book: tasks, most urgent first, each saying what it's for and on which day. A decision reads Decide: with its options, the chosen one ticked.
- Not booked yet: flights, trains, stays and bookable activities that have no confirmation and no task yet.
- Contacts: name, role, phone (tap to call), email, website and address, with On: links to the days they matter.
- Info: the trip's know-how, such as ticket rules or a tent guide, with On: links.
A confirmation number on a hotel, train or activity is a small chip; click it to jump to its full entry here. 📎 2 on a chip means it has two tickets or documents; they're listed on its row in Reference. Click one to open it (tickets and documents).
Booklet
Download PDF gives a booklet to print or keep offline. It has:
- a cover with the dates and who's travelling;
- Days at a glance, one row per day;
- a section per day: where you stay, Getting around, the plans, Activities, Food and Good to know, with confirmation numbers and phone numbers printed in full on the day they're needed;
- Reference: Confirmations, Where we're staying, Contacts, Info and Still to book.
Paper can't link, so the booklet repeats contacts and confirmation numbers on each day they matter, as well as in Reference.
Offline
On a phone, the trip page keeps working without a signal (on a train, or abroad without data):
- Each time you open a trip page, your phone keeps a copy of it.
- To be sure before you go, open ⋯ and click Save for offline. That also keeps the PDF booklet and the trip's tickets and documents (see tickets and documents).
With no signal, the trip page opens from that copy, with Offline — this is the copy saved … at the top. Anything changed since then isn't shown, and you can't make changes until you're back online. Edit pages, the map and other pages need a signal.
The copy is only for you and only on that device. Signing out deletes it, so a shared phone or computer keeps nothing.
To put the site on your home screen, use your browser's Add to Home Screen (iPhone: the share button; Android: the ⋮ menu).
Problems
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| A day won't open from a link | Click the day's line to open it, or Expand all. |
| A train shows on the wrong day | A journey appears on the day it leaves. Ask an editor to check its date. |
| No Edit trip button | You can read the trip but not change it. See sharing and access. |
| The trip page doesn't open without a signal | Open it once with a signal (or use Save for offline) on that device first. Private or incognito windows don't keep copies. |
| Download PDF says the booklet can't be made yet | Use your browser's Print → Save as PDF for now, and tell us. |
