Tidying an itinerary

Turn travel tables into real journeys, and use the clean-up suggestions to remove text that repeats a booking or contact.

For trip editors · Updated October 19, 2026

An itinerary written as a document often lists journeys in tables and repeats bookings in the text. Two tools turn that into the trip's real records. Neither changes anything until you tick and confirm.

Turn tables into legs

A table on a day with rows like "Butzbach → Frankfurt Hbf" can become real journeys (travel legs).

  1. On Edit trip, under Travel by day, click Turn “A → B” table rows into legs (shown while any table has such rows). For just one table, open it from the day's page and click Turn them into legs.
  2. Each row shows what it will become:
    • Create planned leg: a new journey on that day, with the row's rough time, operator and notes.
    • Link to existing leg: the day already has this journey; the row is removed and the leg shown in its place.
    • Possible — check it's a journey: found only by the word "to", such as "Continue to Angel Fire". Unticked; tick it only if it really is a journey.
  3. Pick the city for any end left blank (for example München → Munich) so it's drawn on the map.
  4. Click Convert the ticked rows.

The table becomes a travel section: converted rows and "Total" rows go, other rows stay for reference. No times are guessed; add them once booked.

Clean-up suggestions

On the trip page, editors see Tidy suggestions in the Overview. The page lists, day by day, text that repeats something recorded elsewhere:

Suggestion For example What applying it does
A line repeats a journey, stay, meal or activity "Check out Hotel Hessischer Hof after breakfast" Removes the line; optionally adds its extra words to the item's notes.
A booking reminder repeats a task "📅 Book: ICE seats for 6" Deletes the reminder, or keeps its text as an info note on the task's item.
A phone number in the text "Call ahead: 06033 65147" Makes a contact, linked to the meal or plan, and removes the number from the text.
Trip notes that belong elsewhere A hotels line, or a numbered list of options Removes the line, or makes a decision with those options.
A table that describes an activity A tour's times and meeting point Moves the rows into an info note on the activity.
An empty plan that's only a time and a meal "~7pm — Dinner", on a day with one dinner Gives the meal that reservation time, so it shows in the day's timeline, and removes the plan. If the meal already has a time, just removes the plan.
A "Day N" that doesn't match "Day 3 is a travel day" on Day 4 Nothing: marked Check by hand.

Everything starts unticked. Tick what you agree with, choose an action where there are two, and click Apply the ticked suggestions. Exact match marks the safest ones. If the text changed since the page was opened, that suggestion is skipped and reported. Not this hides a suggestion for good.

Problems

Problem What to do
A converted leg has the wrong city Edit the leg and pick the right From city or To city.
A suggestion was applied by mistake The removed text isn't kept. Add it back by editing the section, and Not this the suggestion if it returns.
A suggestion keeps coming back Click Not this.
