Places, activities and events

The catalogue is what everyone's goals and trips are built from. An activity is an idea ("See Oktoberfest"), an event is one dated occurrence of it ("Oktoberfest 2027"), and a place is somewhere on the map.

Browse

Under Discover in the left menu: Activities, Events and Places — open to everyone, signed in or not, so you can share a link to any published one. Each has filters, and places also have a map. A place or activity that's part of several members' trips shows On trips with how many (from two trips up; never which trips or whose). On anything you like, click Add to bucket list (your bucket list).

Searching

The search box at the top of every page looks through the whole catalogue at once: countries and regions, cities, places, activities and events. On a phone, tap the magnifier.

• Type a place (Kyoto, Bavaria), something to do (food tour, museum) or an event (Oktoberfest). Small spelling slips and missing accents are fine: Neuschwanstien and Munchen both work.
• Results are grouped by kind, best match first. A name match comes before a match on where something is, which comes before a match in its description. More … shows all of one kind.
• Narrow it with Country, Month (when an event starts, or the months an activity usually happens), Category and Show. A month or category leaves only activities and events.
• Past events are left out unless you tick Include past events.

Only published items are found; your own suggestions waiting for approval show up for you alone.

What's on and the calendar

• Calendar: on the Events page, click Calendar for a month at a glance. An event shows on every day it runs; a busy day says "+N more", which jumps to that day's list. Use the arrows for other months and the filters for a country or category. On a phone it's a list of the days with something on.
• What's on: country, region, city and place pages list what's coming up there. A city also shows events within 50 km, marked Nearby with the distance; a place (a stadium, a hall) shows the events held there. Things to do lists activities in the same place.
• Add to my calendar: on an event's page, this downloads a file your calendar app (Apple, Google, Outlook) opens to add the event, with its times in the event's own time zone.

Dates and "today" follow the time zone in your Settings.

Suggest something new

• Add an activity on the Activities page.
• Add an event on the Events page, or Add a date on an activity, for its next occurrence. If the city isn't listed, tick City not listed and type it.
• Add POI on the Places list, for a new place. A restaurant, market or bakery belongs here only if people travel for it (type Food & drink); everyday meals stay on your trip as typed text.

New suggestions are checked by the site's staff before others see them. Until then you can see and edit yours under My contributions in your account menu (Activities I added, Events I added). You get a notification when one is approved.

Reviews

On a published activity, event, city or place, click Write a review, give it a rating and some words, and click Post review. You can write one review per item; Edit your review changes it, and Delete review removes it. Reviews are public and show your username. A review you share when ticking off a goal is marked Been there.

If a review breaks the rules, click Report, say What's wrong with it? and click Send report. Staff decide whether to keep it.

Rating a finished trip

The day after a trip ends, everyone on it gets a notification: How was ? Open it (or, on the finished trip's page, click Rate the places from this trip) to see the trip's cities and the places its activities visited.

Give any of them 1 to 5 stars and a sentence if you like, then click Save ratings. Each rating is your review of that place, the same one you'd write on its page; rating it again here changes your review. If you travelled (you're on the trip's list of travellers), the review is marked Been there. Leave out anything you'd rather not rate, or click Skip — don't ask again.
